THE NAZIRABAD police today recovered over a dozen motorcycles, stolen from the City. The accused, Kailash, was arrested for the thefts.

The villagers had informed the police that a youth had arrived with a stolen motorcycle to the village and was looking for buyers. On the basis of the tip-off, the accused was caught and interrogated.

The accused told police that he had stolen twelve other motorcycles from different localities in the capital, including Sabzi Mandi, Jumerati, Marwari Road, Noor Mahal and Bhopal Talkies.

Kailash is a native of Narsinhgarh. During investigation, the police arrested Bhura, Gangaram, Kamal, Ratan, all residents of Ramgarha, Imrat Singh Gujrar, resident of Jhirnia Kankad, Man Singh, resident of Mewadpura, Dayal Singh, Jagdish, Anup Gurjar, Suraj Singh. All these persons had bought motorcycles from Kailash.

The police recovered 13 stolen motorcycles that include 8 Hero Honda, 3 Yamaha, one TVS and a Bajaj motorcycle. The cost of the stolen motorcycles is estimated between Rs 4-5 lakh. He was also arrested in the past for camera theft in Narsinhgarh.

He told police that when he was in jail, Akram, a resident of Sarangpur, had told him the trick to steal motorcycles.

The accused would come to Bhopal in the night and went to the Bus Stand where he unlocked the motorcycles parked in the open with the help of master key. He sold the motorcycle at cheaper rate.

He had got quite popular for selling motorcycles at cheaper rates. The fact that there is hardly any checking of documents in rural areas helped him because often villagers were content with buying the motorcycles and wouldn’t insist on papers.
