The chief of the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) trauma center, Dr MC Misra, is set to be the appointed the institute’s next director.
In a meeting on Sunday, the institute’s board of governors finalised Dr Misra’s name to be forwarded to the appointments committee of the Cabinet.
Four other candidates — Dr YK Gupta, head of department of pharmacology, Dr VK Paul, head of department of paediatrics, Dr Balram Airon, head of cardio-thoracic and vascular surgery and Dr SK Acharya, head of department of gastroenterology — were shortlisted by the search-cum-selection committee out of the 70 odd applications that it had received for the post from doctors based in India and abroad.
Dr Misra, who is also the head of the surgery department of the hospital, is a senior faculty with around three decades of experience.
The ACC will give the final nod after completing its own formal procedures.
The institute had advertised for the post of its director nearly two months ago. The tenure of the current director will end on September 30.
