This summer if you are thinking of changing the look of your home, all that can do the needful is curtains or blinds. Both (curtains or blinds) have their pros and cons, so it’s better to do an extensive market survey before picking any one of them.

The comparison
“Where blinds are clean, easy to maintain, take less space and give a uniform look — making the room look larger, curtains on the other hand give a royal and warmer look to the room,” says Mandeep Nagi of Shades Of India.

“If one is opting for blinds, then one should put them on the window that faces an open area,” says Punam Kalra of I’m Centre For Applied Arts. But if you are looking for a cheaper option, nothing can beat the age-old curtains, which are now available in trendiest of designs and finest of fabric. “As for curtains the installation is not costly, whereas, for blinds, the installation cost is extremely high so is the maintenance cost,” says interior designer, Bindiya Chabbria.

Make it chic
In summers chics are an excellent option. “They are extremely cheap, plus one can be innovative with them, for example; one can paint them with the colour matching one’s room and can cover them with nice fabric. Chics in neutral colours can go with any style of furniture,” says Nagi.

But with changing time more and more people are going in for blinds in their homes as well. “Blinds have become a trend. They are available in fabrics like silk, linen, polyester and other material as well. When picking blinds, go for light colours such as: pastels, white, beige colours.
