In a bizarre incident of auto theft in the city, two cars were stolen on Monday by the driver employed by the vehicle owner. A Honda City and Swift Dezire were driven away by the driver and his accomplice waiting outside the house in DLF Phase 2, the police said.
According to the owner, driver Pinto (22) also managed to flee with the key of a third car.
"Our driver Dharmender Kumar Gupta (36), who is from Guwahati, was on leave for a few days. Before going he got Pinto as his replacement. In the morning, Pinto took all the keys with him. When my daughter stopped him, he replied that he was going to clean them. After a few minutes when I went outside to check on him, I found him and my two cars missing," said Rachna, the owner.
"We immediately informed the police and lodged an FIR against him. We have given them details about Dharmender. But his phone is also switched off since the incident," said Rachna.
"We are investigating the matter and will arrest the culprit soon," said a police official.
