A drug addict allegedly sold off his minor daughter for Rs 50,000 in Pirthala village.

Following a complaint made by her stepbrothers Jagroop and Ramswaroop Singh, Tohana police recovered the victim from Jind and handed the 16-year-old girl to them.

According to information, upon finding their stepsister, who was accompanied by their father Deshraj, missing for almost a week, the brothers launched a search.

Working on the location given by the accused, the police also traced the couple from Jind.

The girl, meanwhile, told the police that her father took her to Baat Basti, Tohana, and forcibly married her to Mandi for Rs 50,000.

The accused was arrested and sent to judicial custody after being produced in the court of the chief judicial magistrate.
