Drug mafia paid for Lala Haddi?s murder: Shooter

THE ANWARGANJ police arrested Rashid in the wee hours on Friday from Dalelpurwa. He is the prime accused in the murder of notorious criminal Lala Haddi Godam.

Interrogation of Rashid revealed that drug mafia Brijendra Sonkar had got Lala murdered by another criminal Rashid alias Monu Sonkar on May 14, when Lala was resting outside his house.

Earlier, Brijendra and his friend Shibu Sonkar had struck a deal of Rs 2 lakh for the murder and had paid Rs 25,000 as advance on April 25.

The two sides had an old enmity. In 2003 Brigendra Sonkar was shot at and in an effort to safe his life he had entered the  Sisamau police station. There he filed a complaint against Babloo Sonkar but later came to know that it was Lala who had attacked him and thereafter wanted to take revenge.

Similarly, in 2003 Rashid had shot at a youth in Jajmau and the latter was found to a member of Lala gang.

Sources said that Lala and Rashid in prison at the same time, where the latter was tortured by the former.

When Brigendra and Rashid met they decided to eliminate Lala and finally on May 14 Rashid along with three other accomplices opened indiscriminate fire on Lala, injuring him badly. Lala succumbed to injuries at a private hospital in Lucknow a few days later.  

Kin kills woman
A sixty-year-old woman died when her nephew thrashed her as she was sleeping on the cart of her nephew. This infuriated the nephew and he thrashed the woman who was declared dead when her son took her to a private hospital in Swaroop Nagar on Thursday night.

The deceased identified as Shanti Devi, was a resident of Khalasi Line under Gwaltoli police station and lived along with her sons Ram Chandra and Ohm Prakash.

Due to scorching heat Shanti Devi often slept on the cart of her nephew Sunil Sonkar, who also lives in the same place. Police said Sonkar had objected to his aunt sleeping on his cart.

On Thursday night when Sunil found Shanti Devi sleeping on his cart, he thrashed her and she succumbed to injuries while on way to hospital. Meanwhile, the Gwaltoli police have registered a case under Section 304 of Indian Penal Code against Sonkar.

FIR lodged
A trader identified as Shyam Bhojwani has registered a complaint against a former ward head Mahendra Tripathi and Congress party member DP Srivastava, who according to police, is an official in the labour department. In the complaint at Kakadev police station Bhojwani has claimed that his shop at Shastri Nagar has been taken over by Mahendra and DP Srivastava.

However, police said it appears a matter of dispute in the transaction of money between the two parties.
