Drug worth Rs 5 crore seized from Kolkata-based lady, her son

Punjab Police in Amritsar today recovered one kilogram of heroin worth Rs. 5 crore in international market from a Kolkata-based lady and her son.

Punjab Police in Amritsar on Tuesday recovered one kilogram of heroin worth Rs. 5 crore in international market from a Kolkata-based lady and her son.

According to officials of the police counter-intelligence, the woman Sophia and her son Vicky Gurm, residents of Kolkata, were arrested when they were trying to board a bus and recovered 1kg of heroin from their possession.

A case under the NDPS was registered against them.

Officials said investigations showed that the duo were working for a Nigerian, based in New Delhi, who has links with smugglers based in Pakistan and Europe.

Investigation was being conducted on different lines to unearth the complete nexus and network of this gang, they said adding more arrests are likely soon.
