A 24-year-old girl was detained on Wednesday after she reportedly lost control of her Chevrolet Spark car and rammed into another car, two motorcycles and a rickshaw.

Two bikers, a pillion rider and the rickshawpuller sustained injuries while the occupants of the Suzuki WagonR escaped unhurt. One of the bikers was rushed to Safdurjang Hospital and is said to be out of danger.

The police said Neha Yadav, a fashion designing student at NIFD, was detained on the spot and a medical test at the state-run civil hospital confirmed alcohol consumption.

Officials said she was released on bail after being booked on charges of negligent and rash driving. She will be produced in court on Thursday.

Yadav was on her way from Atul Kataria Chowk to Old Delhi Road when the incident took place around 5.30pm near the Air Force School.

The girl is a resident of Huda Sector 4 and her father is a businessman, said police officials.

“She lost control and first hit the WagnoR, then two bikes and a rickshaw. Three bikers were injured and one of them with head injuries was referred to Safdarjung Hospital in Delhi. The others were taken to a private hospital,” said Maheshwar Dayal, deputy commissioner of police (west).

According to the police, Yadav was driving a relative's car and did not even have any documents with her.

“Immediately after the accident, our personnel had conducted a breath analyser test which revealed she was under the influence of liquor. We sent her for a medical examination for verification and the result was positive,” added Dayal.

A friend was also accompanying Yadav who escaped after the incident. Her father reached the hospital and she was released on bail bond. Police are looking into the matter. An official said they will find out more about how the mishap happened.

Fatal History
In June 2008, three teenagers were killed and one was injured in an accident on Delhi-Gurgaon Expressway. Their speeding car hit a divider and toppled several times before coming to a halt. Two of the deceased had just finished Class X, while the other was a Class XII student.

In April 2009, three boys in a car were rammed by a speeding truck at Shankar Chowk flyover on Gurgaon expressway in the wee hours.

While one was injured, two boys died immediately. They were students of a Noida university and they used to stay together at a rented apartment.
