BJP prime ministerial candidate Narendra Modi vented his fury against a Congress leader in Maharashtra demanding to strip Lata mangeshkar of Bharat Ratna and exhorted the crowds to dump it (Congress ke pair ke neeche ki zameen kheech lo).
“Does she not have a right to express her feelings? Is this the language of democracy?”, Modi said attempting to incite the people during his election rally at Durg in Chhattisgarh on Thursday.
He blamed the Congress party for rewarding those who were on a misinformation campaign against him or his state, Gujarat.
In the presence of Modi at Mumbai, Mangeshkar had recently said that it was her dream to see Modi as the next prime minister.
He said that the Congress government is in Delhi surviving not owing to the majority but abusing the CBI by targeting parties like SP, BSP or DMK. He cautioned the people not to let the Congress come to power in Chhattisgarh, “They (Congress) have looted the nation. Now being out of scene for ten years , they are so hungry that if given a chance they will not spare anything in the state”.
Modi criticized the Congress-led UPA for “not remaining accountable” for its performance and has become "arrogant" being in power for over nine years. He said that on the contrary chief minister Raman Singh has reached out to the people with his report card at the end of his tenure.
Attacking the "chaiwala" remark of the Samajwadi Party leader, he says that this shows the mentality of the party and who discriminate between classes and make "joke" of poor the poor people in a country that adopts democracy.
With the youths in mind he lashed out at the Congress for it failure to keep its promise of generating one crore employment every year.
Reiterating that the Congress has raked up politics of vote-bank, he said that BJP came to power in Gujarat on development. “Vote for lotus symbol and we will given Chhattisgarh of your choice”, he said appealing the voters to support the BJP.
Earlier in the the day the Gujarat chief minister Modi has a whirlwind tour of Chhattisgarh and addressed three public meetings at Bemetra, Kawardha and Kurud.
At Bemetra he targeted the Congress for deceiving the voters on the concealing the name of chief ministerial candidate and raked-up the Ajit Jogi factor, “Why is Congress party hiding his name and wary of declaring the name of chief minister candidate. Is the party fearing of a poll debacle if the name arouses the feeling of terror and atrocities (allegedly during the 3-year rule of Jogi)”, he thundered.
Sharpening his attack he charged the Congress party for regarding the poor as a piece of vote.
He cited Congress president Sonia Gandhi as sick and asked her son Rahul Gandhi to take over. “Sonia ji please do your homework before you come to Chhattisgarh to speak. Get yourself apprised about your government which has recognised and awarded the Chhattisgarh government. He took the occasion to offer his condolence to the security jawans killed in Maoist attack a day after the first phase poll on November 11.
“The high turnout of voters at 75% as befitting response to Maoists challenge”, he said.
In another rally at the chief minister’s home town Kawardha Gujarat chief minister said had Raman Singh been in the Congress his son Abhishek would have got the ticket from Kawardha.
