Durgesh wins silver, medals tally now six

Athlete Durgesh Kumar won silver for India in the 400m hurdles final at the inaugural Youth Olympics on Monday. It was India's second medal in athletics and pushed the overall medal's tally to six with five silvers and a bronze.

Discus thrower Arjun had won a silver on Saturday. Durgesh won the silver with a personal best timing of 50.81 secs. Cuban Norge Sotomayor Lara won the gold, clocking 50.69 secs.

Ruchi comes up with creditable show

India's 10m air pistol shooter, Ruchi Singh, came up with a creditable performance finishing sixth on Monday. The 18-year-old made it to the finals placed sixth with a score of 374/400 in the qualification round. She had a series of 96, 92, 92 and 94. In the finals however, she could not improve upon her position, shooting 93.2 to aggregate 467.2. Kim Jan Mi of Korea clinched gold with an aggregate of 479.2.

Meanwhile, boxer Shiva Thapa will fight for gold in the bantamweight category (54kg) against Elov Ramirez Robeisy of Cuba on Wednesday.
