E Ahamed files papers from Malappuram

IUML all-India president and Union Minister E Ahamed in Malappuram and his party colleague and former state minister E T Muhammad Basheer in Ponnani were among the 21 candidates who filed nominations for the April 16 Lok Sabha polls on Wedesday.

IUML all-India president and Union Minister E Ahamed in Malappuram and his party colleague and former state minister E T Muhammad Basheer in Ponnani were among the 21 candidates who filed nominations for the April 16 Lok Sabha polls on Wedesday.

The Congress nominees to enter the fray were K V Thomas (Ernakulam) and M I Sahnawas (Wayanad), while CPI-M candidates to file the papers were K Ananthagopan (Pathanamthitta), P Rajendran (Kollam) and K S Manoj (Alappuzha).

Francis George of Kerala Congress (Idukki) and BJP’s P M Velayudhan (Mavelikkara-SC) were other main contestants who filed papers today. Others who entered the fray in different constituencies across the state were independents or dummy nominees.

A total of 39 nominations had been received since the process started on March 23.
