Once you join college, this is one place you’d definitely end up visiting with friends. Be it eating joints or shopping opportunities, the New Friends Colony Community centre has it all. We take you through a walk in the market.

There’s lot to munch on
On entering the market from the front lane, popular fast food joints such as Mc Donalds, Pizza Hut, Dominos and Nirula’s, welcome you. Eat there, or try out some desi stuff like Shahi Paneer (Rs 90) and Kadahi Paneer (Rs 90) from the famous Brijwasi corner or papdi chaat (Rs 55 a plate) from Nathu’s.

But if non-veg food is what gets you going, head to Al Bake for its Shawarmas (Rs 35 per piece). There’re also eateries such as Barista, Fast Trax and Godfrey Philip’s Ego Obsession, here.

Those with a sweet tooth, can indulge in cookies and pastries at Bon-Bon pastry shop or try out the shahi meetha pan R150, or chocolate or strawberry pan for Rs 25 each, from a nearby pan shop.

Chill out with friends
Not just eateries, the market also has bar-cum-restaurants, such as Pebble Street and Nothing Authentic lounge that provide a variety of food items, mocktails and cocktails. Come here between happy hours (12.30pm to 8pm) to make the most of it. You can also enjoy hookah in this market, for about Rs 500-Rs 1200. Catch a movie at Batra Glitz Cin, or get a trendy haircut (R350) or styling (Rs 450) done from the salon Pretty Woman.

Let’s talk art and fashion
The market has something for art lovers, too. The Espace Art Gallery in the central area of the complex, is worth a visit. “We have paintings and art pieces starting from Rs 5000 to Rs 2 crore,” says Kanika Anand, director of marketing sales, Espace Gallery. For shopping, you can buy T-shirts, shirts and jeans for about Rs 350-R450 from Fashion Point or visit Gargi tailor shop for suit stitching or for buying branded readymade menswear.

More to explore
Besides many popular eating joints, the market has quite some nightclubs and pubs.
When here, you can also check out the mehendi walas that usually sit during the evening time around the fountain. But don’t forget to bargain with them.
The market also has many beauty salons to check out

Art amidst the market
In the middle of the market, is the famous art space — Gallery Espace. It was established in 1989. Currently the gallery is running a show titled, Summer Exhibition, showcasing the work of many popular contemporary artists. The gallery is open from 11am to 7pm.
