The Enforcement Directorate (ED) may call next week two key government officials — RK Chandolia and AK Srivastava — in connection with the probe in the 2G case.
Chandolia was private secretary to former telecom minister A Raja and Srivastava was holding the post of deputy director general (access services) in the department of telecommunications (DoT) at the time of allocation of 2G spectrum.
It will be first time Chandolia will be questioned in the 2G scam — either by the ED or CBI. The CBI has already interviewed Srivastava many times.
According to sources Chandolia wielded considerable clout during Raja’s time as telecom minister. He had to leave the post of PS to the minister when he got promotion to the rank of joint secretary. Sources say Raja accommodated him as economic adviser in the DoT to keep availing his services.
However, officials are tightlipped about questioning Raja.
