Editorial control is back in the hands of the family that owns the Hindu newspaper.

A meeting of the board of directors of Kasturi and Sons Ltd (KSL) approved several changes including restoring top editorial and management positions to family members.

While chief executive officer Arun Anant was removed, editor Siddharth Varadarajan tweeted his resignation within minutes of the board decision that gave editorial control to N Ravi.

Varadarajan said in his tweet: “with The Hindu’s owners deciding to revert to being a family run and edited newspaper, I am resigning from The Hindu with immediate effect.”

N Ravi is now editor-in-chief and Malini Parthasarathy editor. N Ram, former editor-in-chief, will now be chairman and publisher and N Murali co-chairman.

Varadarajan was appointed editor and Arun Anant CEO two years ago.
