REVENUE MINISTER Kamal Patel today said that efforts were underway to facilitate the transfer of the tribal land to non-tribals in unscheduled areas of Madhya Pradesh. He said that at the moment the transfer or sale of such land is carried out with the permission of the district magistrates.

The minister said that the transfer of tribal land in the scheduled areas (the areas coming under the jurisdiction of the President of India) is completely banned in the entire state. He said that if a tribal wants to sell off his land outside his community in the unscheduled areas, he or she has to seek permission of the district magistrate concerned.

Talking to presspersons here, Patel further said that the government was also collecting data of the wasteland in villages to transfer them on lease deeds. ‘Such transfers would be done on nominal annual charges to promote eco-friendly small scale industries and attract employment opportunities in the villages’, he said.

Patel said that the state government was clearing the approach roads to fields (Gohas) of encroachments to ensure that the farmers did not have problem of transportation during rainy season. He said that encroachers haven’t even spared the roads in the villages.

Patel said that to weed out corruption and prevent delay in the issuance of the caste certificates to the reserved category students, the revenue officials would send the caste certificates to the respective schools in July.
