Eight people were killed and 26 injured in a road accident early on Wednesday in a Chhattisgarh village, where they had gone to attend a wedding party.

The victims were from state capital Raipur.

The incident took place at Gunarbore, in Durg district, located on Bemetara-Simga road, some 125 km north of Raipur.

Police said the mini-truck turned turtle when the driver lost control while negotiating a blind turn on the way back to Raipur after the marriage ceremony.

Seven people died on the spot while a middle-aged woman succumbed to injuries during treatment at Raipur's Bhimrao Ambedkar Government Medical College and Hospital, where all the 26 injured have been admitted.
