The accident occurred near Gusahi Chowk under Bochaha police station when the driver of the overcrowded bus lost control while overtaking another vehicle, police said.

Most of the people killed in the mishap were travelling on the roof of the bus, sources said.

The injured were rushed to Srikrishna Medical College and Hospital where the condition of seven of them was stated to be critical.
