At least eight people were killed and six injured in Uttar Pradesh's Moradabad district when the vehicle they were travelling in rammed into a truck on Wednesday morning, police said.

“The accident took place on Wednesday morning in Kathghar locality," Additional Superintendent of Police Arvind Kumar told IANS on telephone.

The official said the Tavera car collided head-on with a truck following low visibility due to heavy fog in the area. Eight people were killed on the spot, while the six injured were admitted to a hospital in Moradabad, about 250 km from Lucknow.

Arvind Kumar said most of the dead were from the same family and were coming from Haldwani in Uttarakhand.
