Eight militants arrested in Manipur

Eight militants belonging to different outfits have been arrested from different parts of Manipur in the past three days, official sources said.

Eight militants belonging to different outfits have been arrested from different parts of Manipur in the past three days, official sources said on Tuesday.

Sources said a woman militant identified as Magalthapa Anju (24) of Kangleipak Communist Party (Military Council) was arrested from Khurai area in Imphal east district on Sunday last by police commandos.

They said Anju who joined the outfit in January this year was involved in extortion from general public, contractors and government officials.

Sources said the commandos also nabbed two militants of People's Liberation Army (PLA) identified as L. Eleicha alias Kumar (32) and T Sarju (36) from Lamlong area in the same district on Sunday evening.

The militants were involved in collection of percentage from salaries of employees of central agricultural university here, sources said adding that another militant of Kuki Revolutionary Army (Unification) identified as Ksh Tarang (26) was arrested on same day from Iranpham village in Imphal east district.
