Election kidnapped in Jharkhand candidate

A candidate for Garhwa assembly seat, which goes to the polls on Friday in the state, was on Thursday kidnapped by unknown gunmen in the district, police said.

A candidate for a Garhwa assembly seat, which goes to the polls on Friday in the state, was on Thursday kidnapped by unknown gunmen in the district, police said.

Rajesh Kumar of Nav Jawan Sangharsh Morcha was going by a car along with seven of his friends this morning when the gunmen intercepted the vehicle and took away Kumar, Superintendent of Police Richard Lakra told newsmen.

The gunmen, however, released the seven after assaulting them, he said adding raids were on to trace Kumar. Garhwa is among the 16 seats going for the fifth and final phase of polling tomorrow.
