Eleven killed in separate accidents in Jammu

Eleven people, including three security personnel, were killed and 18 others injured in separate road accidents in different parts of Jammu division in the past 24 hours, police said on Saturday.

Two security personnel were killed and three others seriously injured when an army vehicle skidded off the road and plunged into a stream at Major Morh in Mendhar area, 190 kms from Jammu, in Poonch district on Saturday, they said.

The deceased have been identified as Naib Subedar Harbans Lal and Sepoy Kartik Singa, they said, adding the injured were shifted to a nearby hospital.

Three persons, including two personnel of fire service department, were killed and six others injured in a collision between a truck and a fire tender at Nagrota, about 12 kms from Jammu on Saturday, they said.

Two of the deceased -- Vikram Singh and Abdul Rashid -- belonged to the fire service department, they said.

In a separate incident, three persons were killed and five others injured when a car skidded off the road and fell into a 200-feet gorge in Banihal area, 174 kms from Jammu, they said.

An army jawan was killed when two vehicles collided at Chanderkote, about 130 kms from Jammu, in Ramban district last evening, they said.

A woman was killed when a tractor in which she was travelling fell into a gorge at Harni in Poonch district on Friday.

In another mishap, one person was killed and two others were injured when their motorcycle was hit by a bus in Jammu on Friday, they said.

Two others were also injured in a road accident at Batote in Ramban district.
