The Chand-Fiza drama took a violent turn late on Sunday night. A few hours after the couple’s patch-up, about 50 persons tried to abduct Chand Mohammed. In the process, they attacked two policemen posted outside Fiza’s house here. One of the policemen apparently opened fire in self defence and injured one of his attackers.

The injured man, Ashok Kumar, told mediapersons at a hospital here that Chand had phoned his supporters, asking them to take him back home to Hisar.

Mohali Senior Superintendent of Police Jatinder Singh Aulakh said, “A case has been registered against three persons and a Bolero jeep has been impounded. More arrests will be made soon.”

Chand told mediapersons at Fiza’s house on Monday, “It was my emotional bonding with Fiza which made me return to her. I realised the kind of agony I have given to Fiza all these four months.”

Chand Mohammed alias Chander Mohan (45) is a son of Haryana political veteran Bhajan Lal and a former deputy chief minister of Haryana. Fiza alias Anuradha Bali (38) is a lawyer and former additional advocate general of Haryana. The couple had converted to Islam and married in November last year.

Within 40 days of their marriage, Chand divorced Fiza over the phone from London. It was believed that he had gone back to his first wife and children.
