The work in the state government offices was affected due to the strike call given by government employees.

Saturday's strike call was given by the Joint Consultative Committee (JCC) against the coalition regime for its failure to fulfill their demands, including increase in the retirement age among others.

"Today's strike is being observed by the state government employees in all 22 districts of the state. No state government employee is working today. They are protesting outside their offices against high headedness of the state government", senior JCC leader Mohammad Gafoor Dar told reporters.

He informed that the employees of the Kashmir division assembled at Sher-e-Kashmir Park in Srinagar and held the protest there.

Gafoor Dar warned the state government to take a decision on their demands at the earliest, failing which they will intensify their agitation.

"If the government fails to implement the agreement inked with the employees earlier, the JCC will intensify the agitation", he said.

The JCC that represented over 4.5 lakh state employees is demanding the enhancement of retirement age from 58 to 60, regularisation policy for all daily wagers, casual labourers engaged after 1994, removal of pay anomalies of clerical cadre and budgetary support to all public sector, corporations to release their salaries and other pending arrears.
