EMPOWERED COMMITTEE headed by Chief Secretary Rakesh Sahni on Tuesday approved proposals worth Rs 1,154 crore. The proposals will be sent to the Centre for final sanction.
The proposals related to slum clearance, quarters for urban poor, infrastructure development etc. will be covered under the Jawaharlal Nehru National Urban Renewable Mission (JNNURM).
According to sources, under the slum clearance scheme, 50,000 quarters will be constructed across the State. Of these 25,000 will be constructed in the State Capital at a cost of Rs 745 crore.
