The Samajwadi Party manifesto for Lok Sabha polls promises closure of English medium schools which charge "high" fee, curbs on high salaries and perks, end to mechanization to facilitate more employment and seizure of assets of people having excess wealth to end corruption.

The Samajwadi Party manifesto for Lok Sabha polls promises closure of English medium schools which charge "high" fee, curbs on high salaries and perks, end to mechanization to facilitate more employment and seizure of assets of people having excess wealth to end corruption.

Promising cheap and easy education, the manifesto released in Lucknow on Saturday said free education would be ensured for girls upto graduation level and English medium schools which charge high fee will be closed.

"The party is not against English medium schools but English should not be made compulsory," SP chief Mulayam Singh Yadav, who released the manifesto, said.

The party said it will promote varnacular languages in education, administration and courts.

Referring to corruption, the manifesto said "the only solution to the problem is that the government should seize assets of people having excess wealth."

"However, it will be ensured that this system is not misused," Yadav said. Mulayam said that the manifesto was development oriented.

On the economic front, the manifesto addvocated some restrictions on high salaries and perks and said mechanisation would be stopped so that every person gets a job. It also said forced acquisition of farm land would be stopped.
