Eight-hour ordeal for fliers as erratic Delhi weather delays more flights
Around 550 air travellers comprising elderly, women and children who left in two Indigo flights from Pune and Mumbai on Sunday evening reached New Delhi only on Monday morning due to the flight disruption caused by erratic weather in the capital.

Fliers on flight 6E138 from Mumbai had to wait nearly eight hours to reach New Delhi. The flight which left Mumbai at 6:40 pm on Sunday, was diverted to Jaipur and finally reached its destination at 2:26 am on Monday.

A statement from IndiGo confirming the disruptions said , “We understand the inconvenience of our passengers. In such situations, our operations control centre evaluates multiple options keeping in mind various parameters such as anticipated weather, air traffic congestion, flight duty time limitations of operating crew, availability of supporting airport infrastructure, passenger convenience and most importantly safety of the overall operations.’
Around 40 flights bound to Delhi including PM Narendra Modi’s flight were diverted to other airports owing to poor weather in the capital. Dust storm and thunderstorm accompanied with rains lashed the city till Monday morning.
