Gorging on butter-laden paranthas, cheesy omlettes and greasy bread rolls can bid no good for your gut. So, get some colour and nutrition on your plate for the first meal of the day. Seasonal fruits are an easy way to eat a filling yet healthy breakfast. And if you can’t seem to include fruits in your diet, here’s our pick of healthy options to help you put a fruity spin to your morning.

* Fruit pizza
Yes, you heard it right. Pizzas can be given a healthy spin too by just adding fruits. Start by toasting a whole-wheat pizza crust. Top it off with your favourite non-fat, flavoured yoghurt. Now, for the toppings, just place sliced fruits on top, be it bananas or strawberries. The more the merrier, we say! Refrigerate your fruity pizza for an hour and then dig into a fruity pizza that’s perfect for those with a sweet tooth.

* Rainbow parfait
Running short of time? Then fruit parfaits are your best bet to have a filling and delicious breakfast. Take a glass and fill it up alternating with layers of yoghurt and fruits. Give a colourful start to your day by using fruits in different hues to create a rainbow.

* Fruit skewers
Having plain fruits every day can be boring, so get creative by making fruit skewers (above, right). All you need is a bowl of sliced fruits and skewers, top them with either chocolate or strawberry syrup or flavoured yoghurt. Bite it on the go!

* Fruity smoothies
An ideal post-workout breakfast (above, left). This easy drink is super refreshing and healthy. Just blend milk, yoghurt and your choice of fruits such as bananas and apples. When all else fails, forget the rules and whip together the healthiest fruits and vegetables in your refrigerator, such as cucumbers and kale. So go ahead, kick-start your day on a fruitilicious note.

* Strawberry pinwheels
Spread yoghurt of your chosen flavour on whole-grain tortilla. Top it off with sliced strawberries. Roll up the tortilla wrap and slice it into pinwheels.
