If there’s one colour that’s making waves this season, it’s hot pink. The past few weeks have seen celebs, from US First Lady Michelle Obama and actor Will Smith’s wife, Jada, to singer Shakira, sporting fuchsia or magenta outfits at events.
Jada Pinkette Smith, for instance, attended the Spanish premiere of The Karate Kid in the exact shade of pink that Michelle Obama wore at the 2010 National Design Awards at The White House. Shakira wore a flamboyant pink skirt at a recent photoshoot in Ibiza (Spain).Designers back home, too, think pink is the way to go. "Fuchsia is a timeless colour. It is a glamourous, feminine and sexy hue which can pep up the mood. Also, it looks fantastic on Indian skin tone", says designer Malini Ramani.
Accessorising a fuchsia outfit right is also the key. Says designer Nida Mahmood, "A plain Fuchsia off-shoulder floor length dress with silhouette detailing looks awesome. Such a dress should be teamed with tan gladiators, a tan belt and a chunky neck piece in dull gold or silver. Keep the make up minimal as you don’t want to look like a clown!"
Designer Preeti Chandra warns that one should not mix Fuchsia with any colour other than black. “Fuchsia is the most happening colour of the Fall winter. Avoid mixing it with print and team it up with black,” she says. Even Fuchsia accessories are quite in vogue. Says Designer Namrata Joshipura, “Fuchsia bangles looks great with an ivory dress. Fuchsia lipsticks are also a rage.”
