The two men arrested from Varanasi in Uttar Pradesh for killing a chartered accountant's wife in this city were sent to four days’ police remand by the district court on Friday.
The accused — Kunaal Jotwani and Brajesh Chaurasia — were arrested from Varanasi in connection with the murder of 27-year-old Shweta Singh who was found killed at her residence in Maruti Vihar in Sector 29 on January 25.
According to police, Shweta, a native of Varanasi, got married to Kukku Rajan from Karnataka six months ago. Rajan works as a chartered accountant with a multi-national firm in Sushant Lok.
After accessing Shweta's email account and mobile call details, the police found the deceased had a relationship with one of the accused Kunaal four years ago and he was not happy with her marriage.
Kunaal, a garment merchant, contacted Shweta on January 23 and reached her house along with his friend Brajesh two days later when her husband was away. “They took some refreshment and then slit her throat with a knife,” said Abhey Rao, DCP west, Gurgaon.
The police said that duo after committing the crime destroyed evidence and tried to leave the impression that the purpose of murder was robbery. They also took away her laptop and valuable items to dodge the police.
