Ex-Shiv Sena MP convicted, out on bail

Former Shiv Sena MP Madhukar Sarpotdar who was convicted in the 1992-93 communal riots, was granted bail by a special court in Mumbai.
Former Shiv Sena MP Madhukar Sarpotdar and two other party activists, who were on Wednesday convicted in the 1992-93 communal riots, were later granted bail by a special court in Mumbai.
The speacial riot court convicted Sarpotdar and Sena activists-Ashok Shinde and Jaywant Parab to one year rigorous imprisonment and slapped a fine of Rs 5,000 each.

Three other accused in the case were acquitted.
Following the conviction, Sarpotdar's legal counsel sought bail which was granted by the court.
Sarpotdar and the two others were granted bail on a bond of Rs 5,000 each.
