Execution an area of concern for us

To be honest, I don't know what to write after our four back-to-back defeats. The campaign which started on such a good note has lost its way and the team is trying to make a comeback in the league. Trust me, the worst place to be in cricket is the losers' dressing room. Having said that, we have to be at the top of our game, mentally and physically. It's a challenge to fight the odds and show some character.
Looking back at the two games against the Chennai Super Kings, it was our batting which didn't work to its potential. On Wednesday, we scored only 141, and looking at the conditions and pitch, it was not enough. To err is human but to repeat it time and again is inexcusable. I have written before that we are losing far too many wickets in the first five-or-six overs. In a situation like this, it is hard to recover. The other issue has been our shot selection. Despite being a bang-bang format, you need to find the right balance between caution and aggression. As a batting unit, we have been guilty of picking the wrong shots on wrong balls and have paid the price. We are preparing well, but the results are not showing our intent. This means that something is amiss with the execution and we need to look hard at this aspect. Our next game is against the RCB, in their den. Their batting has the firepower and depth. It's our job to overcome this challenge.
