The MP High Court in Jabalpur on Wednesday asked Peoples’ College of Medical Science and Dental Centre, Bhopal to explain as to why a probe should not be conducted against it for allegedly flouting admission norms under the management quota for MBBS and BDS courses.
The court also asked the CBI whether it could conduct the investigation, after the counsel for petitioners pleaded for tough action against the college. The court issued a notice to the Superintendent of Police CBI Jabalpur, in this regard.
A division bench comprising Chief Justice A K Patnaik and Justice S C Sinho issued the orders after hearing a plea of one Rohan Khandelwal and other students, alleging irregularities committed by the college in admission to MBBS & BDS courses.
The students claimed the college had charged Rs. 15 to 20 lakhs for MBBS course and around Rs. 7.5 lakh for dental course from each student ignoring merit.
