Two persons, including a girl, died and four others were injured on the Gurgaon Expressway in two separate incidents in the last 24 hours. A speeding Toyota Innova car crushed a 24-year-old girl from Manipur and injured her sister on Gurgaon Expressway on Thursday afternoon when she was trying to cross the fast stretch. The duo was headed to a hotel for lunch.
One of the sisters, Limila, works as a beauty consultant. Her sibling Pamilla was visiting her from Imphal. According to the investigating officer (IO) Suresh Kumar, "The duo hired an auto to have a lunch at Hotel Galaxy in Sector 15. The auto dropped them just opposite the BPTP Park Centra building on the Delhi-Gurgaon Expressway at about 1.00 p.m. It is at this time when the sisters were trying to cross the expressway to reach the hotel just across the road that a speeding Innova coming from Delhi side hit them straight on," the IO said.
He said that Pamilla was directly hit by the car, flung into the air and fell on the front hood of the vehicle, suffering grave injury. She died on her way the hospital. Her sister escaped with mild injuries.
Police said the Innova was among two cars headed to Jaipur on a leisure trip.
Meanwhile, in another case reported near Jharsa Crossing on the service lane of the expressway, an unknown vehicle hit an Indica car carrying four persons in the wee hours of Thursday. One of the occupants, Vivek Kumar, died while three others were injured in the mishap.
