With Mahashivratri on Friday, this year, V-Day is falling on an extended weekend, with couples heading out of the Capital for a quick getaway. Tour operators couldn’t be happier.
“The V-Day bookings have risen by 30 to 40 per cent this year. While Goa, Jim Corbett and Rajasthan are the hottest getaway destinations, many are also heading to offbeat locations such as Ranikhet, Bandhavgarh and Khajuraho,” says Amit Sabharwal, senior VP, Make My Trip.
Manali, Kashmir and the pristine locales of the North East are also wooing many. “The extended weekend has given couples a reason to celebrate the V-Day on the go. Our Valentine’s special packages have registered a 15 per cent hike this year. Kodaikanal, Binsar and Ooty as well as wildlife reserves are popular options,” says Thomas Thottathil, spokesperson, Cox & Kings.
