Following the Mumbai terror attacks unprecedented security arrangements have been made this time in and around at Indian Military Academy for passing out parade which is scheduled to be held on Saturday.

The whole area has been sealed and has been converted into a fortress. Police personnel have been deployed in large numbers. Such is the threat perception this time, that police officials are not divulging any details of personnel deployed and measures taken to prevent any untoward incident.

Several check posts have been erected in the state capital including out skirts of the city and checking drive is being conducted round the clock in every nook and corner of the city. This time police are not taking any chance and have provided better weapons to the security personnel.

“ We are not taking any chance this time and have tried our level best to make full proof security arrangements as terror threat in every parts of the country is very high this time” said Ashok Kumar IG Garhwal Range.

Moreover there has been few incidents in past when IMA had been on the terror radar. In 2005 a terrorist was arrested from Prem Nagar locality near the academy few days before of passing out parade and an entry pass recovered from his possession.

However, police is only responsible for out side security arrangements while safety inside the IMA premises is with army. According to IMA officials no one will be allowed to enter inside the premises without entry pass and carrying mobile phones has been strictly prohibited. Besides this metal detector and X- ray machine has been installed at the entrance this time.

Traffic routes have been also diverted and no vehicle would be allowed to move towards the IMA building on Saturday. “The whole area would be converted into zero traffic zone on Saturday morning and no vehicle would be allowed to move towards the IMA campus. A complete traffic diversion plan has been prepared and traffic policemen will be present in huge posse at all the diversion points to ensure the success of the plan” said Sahajahan Ansari CO Traffic, Dehradun.
