Guneet sethi loves the colour turquoise, more specifically: the sound of its Hindi equivalent, firozi. A decade and more ago, she could see colours, and was partial to some. But then Retinitis Pigmentosa set in completely and she lost her vision.
Not one to sit at home, and weep Guneet accepted the setback and got on with her life. Having initially opened a pre-nursery play school at home, she was soon ready to take on more. The lady soon found herself volunteering at the now Qutub-based organisation, The Hunger Project. Today she manages their PR and communications portfolio.
Goaded by friends Gunnet picked up computer skills, learnt 10-finger typing, and now assisted by audio softwares is quite in the loop of tech know-hows.
She replies to emails, brings work home, and devours audio books with abandon. Accomplishments may be relative, but believe the lady when she says, “I have a long way to go.”
