F-16 the ultimate marriage test: Roemer
"If you want to know that your marriage works, travel in a F-16," said US Ambassador to India Timothy Roemer after a flight in Lockheed Martin's F16 at the Aero India show after his wife's incessant calls.india Updated: Feb 09, 2011 22:46 IST
"All is well", said a visibly relieved US Ambassador to India Timothy Roemer after an hour long flight and a mid air loop in Lockheed Martin's F16 at the Aero India 2011 show in Bangalore on Wednesday.
Attempting to showcase the superior technology brought by the US aviation firm, the Ambassador took to the skies with a deafening roar and flew for 60 minutes before landing back safely.
Describing the flight as a "dream come true", he said though he had gone on flights before but "nothing like this".
"It was magic," he said.
Crossing his hands over his heart, "all is well" was the one line reply he gave to his wife, who called him several times on learning that he was to fly the aircraft.
"If you want to know that your marriage works, travel in a F-16," he added in lighter vein.
The flight, he said, also made him realise that "Bangalore is a beautiful city" and a "jewel in the crown".
Watching Bangalore upside down from the aircraft was incredible experience, he said. Assistant secretary for state for political-military Affairs, Andrew Shapiro also flew the F-18.
