The first thing F1 drivers, including Lewis Hamilton and Jenson Button, enquired on entering their hotel here was whether they were safe from mosquitoes, a hotel official said. Apparently, during last year's race, some of the drivers staying in an East Delhi hotel suffered mosquito bites.
"We have conducted intensive fogging and taken all measures to ensure no mosquito breeding takes place in and around the hotel," said the official, requesting anonymity. The Greater Noida authority officials have also stepped up fogging.
A total of 110 cases of dengue have been reported from Gautam Budh Nagar district this season and one person has died. "We have been conducting intensive fogging in all areas including residential, commercial and areas, where hotels are located to ensure no breeding take place," said Harish Kumar Verma, additional CEO, Greater Noida Authority.
