Depressed over marital discord, a 27-year-old MNC executive on Monday night committed suicide by consuming poison at her house in Gurgaon's Sector 40, the police said.

The victim, Ritu Sharma, in a suicide note, had mentioned 'family dispute' as the reason for her taking the extreme step. "We have booked her husband, Vikram Sharma, an executive in an auto component manufacturing unit, for abetting suicide. He is yet to be arrested," said a police officer.

The family got the wind of the situation when the victim's condition worsened. Soon family members informed the police who rushed the victim to the civil hospital where she was declared brought dead.

The post-mortem report confirmed the death caused due to intake of a pesticide easily available in market. A case under Section 306 of Indian Penal Code has been registered against the victim's husband, the police said. "We will begin further probe into the case after we get the report from the lab," said Pawan Kumar, an investigating officer (IO), Sector 40.

However, the police do not believe dowry harassment might have led to the suicide. "But we can confirm this only after we get the forensic report."
