A FAMILY feud may be the motive behind the kidnapping of Adobe CEO Naresh Gupta’s three-year-old son Anant. That is what the Special Task Force investigation and clues indicate.
Sleuths probing the case said Gupta’s rivals among his kin hired the kidnappers to settle scores with him. The ransom would be a bonus and go to the criminals involved, a senior police official said.
Sources in the Special Task Force said Gupta, a native of Hathras and a gold medalist IITian, divorced his first wife in the United States several years ago.
He has a 14-year-old son from his first wife.
The boy stays with his mother. Both are US citizens.
Following marital problems, Gupta left the US and forced his company officials to post him to India. After shifting to India, Gupta established the Adobe office at Sector-25 in Noida 10 years ago. Besides being the CEO, Gupta is a senior vice-president of the company. Soon after settling down here, Gupta married another woman and has a four-year-old daughter, besides Anant. The STF sleuths said Gupta’s first wife reached India three weeks ago and was staying in Delhi. Investigations revealed that Gupta also had a tiff with his cousin over a family matter at his Noida residence a few months ago. The two are still not on good terms. The probe indicated that the mastermind furnished the hired criminals with detailed information about the Gupta family. Separate STF teams have been asked to follow the leads. firstname.lastname@example.org
