Even as surprise showers brought some relief from the scorching heat, frequent power cuts continued to add to the woes of the residents here.
Shortage in electricity supply and snapping of power lines due to strong winds during midnight left the residents sweating it out during the rest of the night on Friday, said Belu, a resident of NH4.
The difference in the demand and supply of electricity is making people suffer in the scorching summer. Although officials claimed that by next year Faridabad could expect uninterrupted power supply, the struggle for residents seems far from over.
"We are in a position to supply 1.30 crore units of power per day. There is a shortfall of about 15 to 20 lakh units of power," NC Tyagi, superintending engineer, Haryana Vidyut Prasaran Nigam.
