A day after Delhi Traffic police blocked Surajkund road for ten days, Faridabad Police announced to provide free SMS alerts, informing about traffic diversions and many other useful information to the citizens.

“We have decided to launch an SMS alert service through which we would provide information related to traffic diversions/restrictions, general security, crime and eve-teasing,” DCP Central, Faridabad Shashank Anand said.

Mobile subscribers interested in receiving free SMS alerts would have to get themselves registered. The registration process would begin from Friday.

“ The interested mobile subscribers can provide his/her information—mobile number, name, address etc at dcp.centralfbd@hry.nic.in,” Anand said.

“We have plans to create groups like bank managers, media-persons, school principals, common people, women folk for sending SMS alerts,” he added.

“We will start the service once we get 100 or more registrations,” he said adding, “the Faridabad police would create a database of all the registered mobile subscribers, who would receive the alerts from time to time.”
