Two female inmates of a local jail in Faridabad have accused senior jail officers of raping and threatening them.
The local court has taken cognisance of the matter and ordered registration of a case against five senior jail officials, including a rape case against one deputy jail superintendent Mohd Shahid, police officials said. The court directed the police to register an FIR against the five jail officials under different sections of IPC, on the complaint of two female convicts lodged in Neemka jail in Faridabad.
Though one of the jail officials feigned ignorance, police sources said they received direction from the local court on Tuesday for registration of FIR against five jail officials, including jail superintendent Anil Kumar, two deputy superintendents including Mohd Shahid and Rai Sahab and two female wardens of the jail.
Rape charges have been brought against one deputy superintendent, a case of threatening, beating, etc., has been registered against superintendent, one deputy superintendent and two wardens, police officials said.
“The two women are in jail as they are facing 20 years of imprisonment in a murder case,” police officials said, adding, “the alleged rape has taken place some time back in the jail and court took cognizance of the matter.”
“Of the two convicts—both married— one hails from Faridabad,” the official said. “We have registered an FIR against five jail officers on the instruction of CJM Faridabad,” the police officer dealing with the case said.
