Farmers, BJP workers lock private power firm officials in Madhya Pradesh

Annoyed over disruption in electricity supply, the aggrieved farmers and BJP leaders locked two officials of a private power supply company. They also staged a demonstration for about three hours at Vallabh Nagar zone on Wednesday.

They were annoyed over lack of electricity in Ranjit Hanuman area. At 12 noon, about 30 farmers led by Kesar Patel of BJP Kisan Morcha and corporator Gabbar Bhati reached Vallabh Nagar zone and demanded that electricity be supplied from 8am to 6pm.

They said they had paid money to Excel company to provide them electricity but were supplied electricity only from 9am to 11am and from 11pm to 6am.

When the company officials Ashok and Sunil said the company would return them the extra money, the farmers locked the two officials inside the company office room.

Finally, the police were called to rescue the two officials. The farmers withdrew agitation only after the company promised them to supply electricity from 8am to 6pm.
