The Father of Paloma Fernandes (26), the call centre employee stabbed to death by her boyfriend, arrived in city from Goa to claim the body of his only daughter on Wednesday.

Paloma, who hails from Goa, worked in a call centre in Malad and lived alone in Rashmi Hetal Co-op Housing Society. Her boyfriend Aquinas Martis (24) also stayed in the same complex.

“We were opposing their marriage, as he was younger to my daughter. She was earning well and got many marriage proposals in Goa,” said Paloma’s father Loborio Fernades, who is a journalist.

On Wednesday when Paloma returned home at 3.30 am and unlocked the door, Martis, who was hiding near the staircase, pounced on her. He whipped out a kitchen knife and allegedly stabbed her.

Martis then stabbed himself in the abdomen. Paloma died while she was being taken to hospital. Martis has been admitted to Bhagwati Hospital in Borivli. Earlier, Aquinas had withdrawn money from her account without asking her.
