It had been only two hours since the death of Radhika Tanwar, the 20-year-old student of DU’s Ram Lal Anand College who was shot dead on Tuesday, when Facebook groups started popping up in her support.
By Wednesday morning, the number of these support groups went up to five. They are titled, ‘Justice for Radhika Tanwar’ ( (353 members), ‘Radhika Tanwar Shot Dead — The Biggest Mishap On Women’s Day’(86 members), ‘Radhika Tawar is dead, so should be her murderer’, ‘Candle light for Radhika Tanwar’ and ‘I won’t let justice be denied this time and you?’
“Guyz we need to get united... itz almost d same thing which happened 10 years back with Jessica Lall (sic),” wrote the creator of a group.
This comes after a slew of other online ‘justice for...’ campaigns, which became a trend after the Justice for Jessica campaign (2006) stirred up a storm. The Facebook justice group for Arushi Talwar has 1,313 members, while that for Ruchika Girhotra has 13,158 members.
