Three persons have been arrested from Lucknow for allegedly killing a 24-year-old man working in Noida.

The arrested have been identified as Rajeev Ratan Mohan Awasthi, Rahul Kumar Lal and Bijender Bahadur -- all from Lucknow.

The victim, Kulbhushan Ojha, was found dead at Pilakhua in Ghaziabad.

Ojha, who worked as a process executive with Osource India Pvt Ltd at Sector 6 here, was engaged to Jyoti Tiwari of Lucknow who plotted his murder, police said.

The police said Rajeev and Jyoti were the masterminds behind the crime. The duo had got married a year ago, but their families did not accept the relationship and got Jyoti engaged to Ojha forcibly. Their wedding was scheduled for April 25, so Jyoti and Rajeev decided to eliminate Ojha.

Ojha, a resident of New Ashok Nagar, used to stay with his friend, who works in the same company. On March 27, he did not return home from his office. His friends lodged a missing complaint at the Sector 20 police station when they were unable to trace him.

The Ghaziabad police recovered his body from a field in Pilakhua on March 28. A pen drive was recovered from the victim’s possession, through which his identity was established.

The police later found that the last call on his mobile phone was made by Rajeev, who has a business in Lucknow.

“Rajeev said he got married to Jyoti last year, but their families never accepted the relationship. Jyoti was to get married to Ojha on April 25. So, the duo decided to kill Ojha with the help of their two friends. They called Ojha to some secluded place in Noida and abducted him in a car. They took him to a jungle in Noida where they attacked him with iron rods and killed him. They dumped his body in a field in Pilakhua,” said PP Singh, SHO, Pilakhua police station.

The police conducted raids in Lucknow and arrested the three. Jyoti is at large. Lal works with the Railways, while Bahadur is a photographer.
