India against Corruption (IAC), a citizen's body, held a public meeting on Sunday to encourage people to join Anna Hazare's fight.
Over 100 people pledged to join the anti-corruption crusader's proposed dharna on August 16 at Jantar Mantar in Delhi.
The gathering included heads of seven villages of Ghaziabad district. "We do not know when such a meeting will be held in our village. Now, we cannot wait anymore and have decided to join the movement," said Brij Mohan Tomar from village Galam (Ghaziabad).
At the meeting, the IAC asked people to spread awareness among masses through electronic media and social networking sites.
A senior citizen, who worked in the government sector for over 40 years, urged participants to work selflessly for the betterment of society.
Urging people not to lose hope and contribute their time, ideas and money, IAC managed to collect more than R30,500 as donation from the gathering.
IAC volunteers also told people to download pamphlets from their website and distribute them.
