Following the ban imposed on The Da Vinci Code in states Andhra Pradesh and Tamil Nadu, the Film and Television Producers Guild of India has asked the governments there to reconsider their decision.

The Guild has written to the governments of all the states, specifying how the film was cleared by the censor board and asking that they help to clear its release, a release from FTPGI said.

Meanwhile, a representative for the film's distributor, Sony Picture Releasing, said it had grossed Rs 4.85 crore in its opening week across the country.

Sony said the film had been released after due clearance from the censor board.
