Actress Neetu Chandra, who started her Bollywood journey with Akshay Kumar starrer Garam Masala, says she decided to go for a makeover because filmmakers thought of her as 'behenji'.
Neetu went for a steamy photoshoot with model Krishita Gupta for a men's magazine, which attracted controversy last year. Some activists protested and halted the shooting of the pictures midway saying that it promoted homosexuality. The actress had to face criticism including questions on her sexuality.
But Neetu said she knew the direction she was taking with a destination in mind.
"This is the reason why I don't regret anything that I have done in the past. My rule is simple, if you have the body, you flaunt it," said Neetu, who wore a swim suit in her very first film Garam Masala.
"See, till the time I did all these photo shoots, not many people were noticing me. I was giving a lot of good performances but even big directors told me straight on my face that they were apprehensive whether I would be able to carry myself in T-Shirts and Jeans, let aside any revealing costumes. They thought of me as a 'behenji'," Neetu said.
Result was a complete change of image that Neetu brought about in months to follow.
